Steve Giddins’ Weekly Chess Problem…

Steve Giddins has a weekly column over at TheProblemist.org which is well worth a look.  Each week sees a new problem posted for readers to try and solve, with the solution following a few days later.

The position below is this week’s problem which caught my eye and is White to move and mate in 2.  See if you can solve it!

For the solution and for further details please check out the full column here

There’s Hope For Us All

We’ve all played dreadful games.  We’ve all blundered pieces, winning positions and rating points.  But there’s hope.  FM Steve Giddins brings our attention to a recent game played at the annual Wijk aan Zee tournament in the Netherlands.

Quite possibly the worst game ever played by two GMs rated 2700+, White capitulates in just 19 moves.  The game can be replayed here
