On Thursday we completed our Harvey Cup fixtures with a narrow win against Weald of Kent.
The result means that we retain an outside chance of a semi-final place but must hope that other results go in our favour.
Our opponents came with only 5 players and were also over-graded, so the advantage was with us from the start.
However we were not totally convincing, having to rely on Pete (who was a piece up from very early on) and Rob (who was always comfortable) to secure the victory.
On the other boards George was defeated quickly (ed. I played like a chump!) and I never really got going, gradually being worn down.
Jerry had a good game, until the moment he placed a knight en prise…
