Chess Documentary – The Love For Wood (1979)

Recently a fascinating Dutch documentary on Chess found its way onto YouTube.

Although in Dutch you can turn on the English subtitles by clicking on the little envelope icon at the bottom right of the video.

You can find the recent Chessbase article on the documentary here.

There’s Hope For Us All

We’ve all played dreadful games.  We’ve all blundered pieces, winning positions and rating points.  But there’s hope.  FM Steve Giddins brings our attention to a recent game played at the annual Wijk aan Zee tournament in the Netherlands.

Quite possibly the worst game ever played by two GMs rated 2700+, White capitulates in just 19 moves.  The game can be replayed here
